About Thyrse

The Company

Thyrse was set up in 2011 by experienced upholsterer-decorator Laurent Malré, following 14 years spent perfecting his craft in Paris. Today, from boutique premises situated in the 5th arrondissement, Thyrse provides a range of skilled services

  • we restore and repair upholstered furniture, including chairs, armchairs and sofas
  • we make made-to-measure curtains, blinds, cushions, wall-hangings, and headboards for beds
  • we supply and fit curtain rods and rails
  • we manage orders for furniture bodywork made by designers, and we fit your curtains and blinds.

We also stock a wide choice of furniture fabrics sourced from major design houses, ranging from classic to modern and on trend, so you are sure to find the style that’s right for your home.

Should you require advice regarding fabrics and finishings, we are more than happy to share our expertise.

Furniture upholstery is a rarefied art in today’s disposable society, dominated by mass manufacturing. Each piece of work is unique and personal, and we relish the fact that our creative limits are dictated only by the limits of your imagination.

Laurent Malré

Laurent Malré is a qualified furniture upholsterer and decorator, trained at La Bonne Graine furniture academy in Paris.

Having worked in top hotels, embassies, restaurants and private residences, he has extensive experience in traditional creative techniques, working with quality prime materials that protect the bodywork while offering maximum comfort. He prefers traditional craft methods and likes to use authentic materials, such as coarse animal or vegetable hair for stuffing, which provide greater durability.

Passionate about his craft, Laurent looks forward to your visit and the chance to work with you on all your upholstery and interior design projects. Whatever the requirement - antique furniture or newly-built frame, old style or modern - he will enjoy using his experience to help you every step of the way.
